Charity Wellington never doubted the dazzling perfection of her life plan, nor had she ever expected the crowning jewel of it to turn from a fairy tale wedding into a bleak funeral.

 

Death comes to her in an unexpected way and drops her into the Land of the Dead. She is welcomed by five friendly, and peculiar, women from all eras of human history; a zombie from the 80’s, an Ancient Egyptian mummy, a strangely beautifully withering corpse from the Regency era, a half skeleton hailing from Ancient Greece, and a Neanderthal still dressed in the near-nude fashion of her time. They are trapped there among endless others, all doomed to turn into bone dust if they can’t find Peace in time.

 

The deadly winds blow strongest during Christmas, and Charity is adamant not to be a victim to them so soon in her newfound Afterlife. She fights the rotting of her flesh with acts of kindness and hard work, guided by Prudence’s gentle touch that wakes a strange warmth inside Charity’s dead heart. It is a sensation she thought could never grow in a such senseless place, and towards someone whose secrets fill an entire barricaded ballroom.

 

But when an easy way out of the Land of the Dead is offered to Charity in a shape of a man from her own time, she takes a risk that plunges both worlds into Chaos.

 

Can Charity find a way to stop the Apocalypse, and to Prudence...or will her selfish desires end all hope for the Dead, and expose the Living to the risk of joining them?
