The Beginning:

 

hiisikoloART is a dream of a Finnish digital artist, and an ADHD creative, Milo Hiisikolo who for a long time believed that starting a business would stay as only an idea for the rest of their days. The mere concept of possibly working for oneself within the confines of a life disabled by a rare neurological sleep disorder (Idiopathic Hypersomnia), seemed distant. Impossible. Also kind of funny.

How could a person whose life is mostly sleep and never feels rested could hold up a business? Now, that is a hilarious puzzle to solve.

​

The answer is: Yes if the conditions are right. Milo gained access to digital art in 2016 and switched entirely to it to work faster, better, and with less sleep attacks in between. In 2019, a medication opened their eyes and allowed longer hours and new found life quality. Overall dedication, and passionate interest in art culminated in actual plan to open up the doors for hiisikoloart in 2021. It was a careful slow-burn plan.

But the 2020 Global Covid Pandemic set those intentions on fire. In mere months, hiisikoloART sprouted from the ashes of what was the original outline, and has kept going ever since - serving customers in need of illustrations made with care and wrapped up in personalized customer service.

Present day:

​

From the very first commissied illustration, hiisikoloART has gained glowing reviews, and continues to work through the challenges of growing business with creative ADHD brain tied up to disabled body in this one person pursuit for happiness. Book covers, character illustrations, 2 full 38-card card decks, DND illustrations, and more - all of them have been done with customer, and their goals in mind.

But not all of life with Idiopathic Hypersomnia has been dream crushing. The Sleepy community has been there for Milo, and in turn hiisikoloART birthed an additional project - NIA comic. The very first IH advocacy comic online available in Tapastic and hiisikoloART Ko-fi page for a free high resolution downloads. It tells the tale of NIA who lives life with Idiopathic Hypersomnia with varying success, and you can help the comic by sharing it, following it in Tapastic, and telling people that it exists.

 

What's next?

As the hiisikoloART grows and evolves, Milo is sworn to keep offering fair deals, transparent and reliable service, and bringing in new and improved aspects to the business from better ko-fi access, to working in the videogame industry.
